We have had a very busy year here in Askea BNS. We have been involved in so many sports and activities. We got to our first Cuman na mBunscol final in 23 years. We entered teams into more sporting events than ever. We made a huge effort to be more active both in and out of the classroom this year. We had out biggest Active School’s Week to date. All classes really enjoyed their action packed school tours. We ended the school year with the very exciting news that we have earned our SECOND Active School Flag. We want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped us achieve this. We look forward to seeing you all at our flag raising ceremony in the new school year. Have a great summer and see you all in September for another active year.
We then continued our sports day on Tuesday with our Senior Sports Day. There were 12 teams with 11 boys on each, they went around to 12 activity stations where they completed tasks for points. Boys in 6th class helped out at each station and a teacher brought the team around the stations. In the end the scores from each station were added up and we gave medals to our 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed teams. Everyone who took part had a great day.
We had two sports day this week, we started the week with the Junior Sports Day on Monday. As part of the Active School Initiative, we incorporate actives into our mainstream lessons. A typical example of this is Knex Wars. This is where each class uses Knex to create prototype vehicles, which they then test in the school hall. Great fun and an excellent means of getting physical activity into our maths lessons. Well done to all involved.
